Yesterday, I decided to switch web hosting companies. I’ve had the domain raycolon.com since 2000 and I originally created the web site with FrontPage 98. There have been subtle changes to the design over the years, but nothing too radical. My former hosting company could more aptly be described as a warehouse since they never added any features to help clients make their web sites more robust. The switch was much easier than I had imagined it would be and was accomplished within minutes. In addition to the site tools available from the new hosting company, HostGator, I’ve purchased web authoring software from Xara. As one would expect, Xara looks to be much more flexible than the clunky FrontPage 98. So, I’ve taken this eleven-year leap forward in web authoring. Incidently, HostGator as well as WordPress (blog software) were recommended by Lisa of 2createawebsite.com. She’s a savvy lady who shares lots of great information on the subject. As I begin the redesign of raycolon.com, I hope that the results reflect this advancement in technology.
